E-SH-R – ‘congregation, concentration of elemental power’

X.עשר, ten. This is to say, the congregation of power proper, of elementary motive force. This meaning results from the two contracted roots שר–עש. By the first עש is understood, every formation by aggregation; thence, the verb עשוה to make; by the second, שר, every motive principle; thence, the verb שור to direct, to govern.
